About the Israeli Hug Center

The Israeli Hug Center was founded after October 7, 2023, with the support and commitment of Congregation Rodeph Sholom, which opened its doors to Israelis with a deep understanding that they needed a home and a true sense of belonging. It was a genuine partnership then, and it remains one today, as Congregation Rodeph Sholom is our founding sponsor. The Center emerged at a moment when rising antisemitism and deep fear were shaping the daily reality of Israelis around the world. In those early days of grief and disconnection, what began as small healing circles quickly grew into a vibrant community hub offering emotional support, cultural connection, and a strong sense of Jewish belonging. Especially now, in these uncertain times, Israelis have strengthened their resilience and sense of stability under the Israeli Hug Center’s roof. What began as an urgent effort to support the emotional well-being of the local community has, over time and in response to growing needs, become a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization serving over 3,000 Israelis across New York through 23 programs. Each program reflects the Center’s core values—emotional support, deep cultural connection, and community building—helping participants feel seen, supported, and connected. We partner with Congregation Rodeph Sholom, Temple Emanu-El Downtown, JCC Manhattan, East End Synagogue, Town and village synagogue, the World Zionist Organization, the Jewish Agency for Israel, and The Jewish Board.
